Staff gynecologists at Student Health are responsible for providing comprehensive, patient-centered medical care to female students attending the University of Iowa. Specific Job Duties and Tasks 

• Gynecologic care — Provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for students.
• Diagnostic management — Perform and order appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
• Medication oversight — Prescribe, dispense, monitor medications, and adjust treatment plans.
• Patient counseling — Counsel patients and families on diagnoses, treatment options, and selfmanagement.
• Chronic care coordination — Coordinate care for chronic or complex conditions with specialists.
• Care plan monitoring — Monitor patient progress and modify care plans for optimal outcomes.
• Evidencebased evaluation — Evaluate treatment effectiveness using evidencebased approaches.
• Clinical documentation — Complete accurate, timely medical records, reports, and billing documentation.
• Documentation quality assurance — Correct charting errors and guide junior staff on documentation, privacy, and confidentiality.
• Policy and ethics adherence — Implement and uphold healthcare policies, ethical standards, and patientcentered practices.
• Quality improvement — Participate in chart reviews, performance initiatives, and clinical committees.
• Clinical leadership — Lead multidisciplinary teams to evaluate and enhance clinical performance.
• Technology integration — Leverage technology for data sharing, quality monitoring, and improved outcomes.
• Education and mentorship — Teach and mentor students, residents, and junior staff in clinical skills and best practices.

Requirements

Education Requirement

• Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school. OB/GYN residency training required  
• Valid license to practice medicine in the State of Iowa.
• Board Certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years of professional clinical experience.
• Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of college health issues.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience fostering a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive clinical environment

Desirable Qualifications

• Previous experience in a higher education, college health, or studentcentered clinical setting.
• Experience working with young adult or collegeaged populations in an outpatient or primary care environment.
• Proficiency with Epic or similar electronic health record systems and strong clinical documentation skills highly desired.
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams (e.g., counselors, nurses, physician assistants, psychiatrists).
• Experience contributing to quality improvement, performance assessment, or clinical outcomes initiatives.
• Commitment to health promotion, preventive care, and supporting student success through wellnessfocused care.
