About the Organization:
A well-established and rapidly growing Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving diverse communities in Metro California is seeking a visionary Chief Medical Officer (CMO). This organization prides itself on its commitment to health equity, patient-centered care, and community engagement, operating multiple clinical sites with plans for further expansion, including new clinic openings and mobile healthcare services.
Position Overview:
The CMO serves as the senior clinical leader responsible for overseeing all medical services, setting clinical care standards, and aligning strategic initiatives with the organization's mission and three-year strategic plan. This leader will guide clinical operations, drive quality improvement, and play a pivotal role in developing and implementing care models that enhance patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Leadership & Oversight:
Oversee clinical services across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Conduct provider credentialing, peer reviews, and ensure clinical documentation accuracy.
Strategic Planning & Quality Improvement:
Lead population health strategies, value-based care initiatives, and quality metrics improvement.
Advance patient experience efforts and operational efficiency.
Provider Management & Recruitment:
Supervise clinical directors (Medical, Dental, Behavioral Health) and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Spearhead recruitment, onboarding, and retention strategies for clinical staff.
Community & Executive Engagement:
Represent the organization in external partnerships and community initiatives.
Work closely with the Executive Committee and report directly to the CEO.
Qualifications:
Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
Board Certification in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
Minimum 3 years of provider management experience; FQHC experience highly preferred.
Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and navigate complex healthcare environments.
Strong understanding of value-based care, patient-centered medical home (PCMH) principles, and quality improvement frameworks (e.g., UDS, HEDIS).
Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on clinical engagement.
Compensation & Benefits:
Compensation: Up to $400,000+ annually (dependent on experience).
Incentive Plan: Eligible for up to 10% of base salary through an executive performance incentive program tied to clinical quality, patient satisfaction, and organizational goals.
