Company History

“Arkansas Children’s Hospital first opened in February of 1912 as the Arkansas Children’s Home Society, providing shelter, warm meals and health care to the state’s neediest children. The facility moved to Morrilton in 1913 before returning to its roots and current location in Little Rock in the 1920s. On its first day with an operating hospital as part of the home in 1926, ACH had just two beds. In the years to come it would prosper based on gifts from the community and the dedication of a small group of individuals who always had the needs to Arkansas’ children in mind. In 1954 the Board of Trustees agreed to change the name of the institution to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, and in 1969 the hospital forged an official affiliation agreement with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences so the hospitals could work together to provide treatment for patients and education to students, interns and resident physicians. Today, ACH is among the nation’s largest children’s hospitals, with comprehensive air and ground emergency transport, a record-setting heart transplantation program and subspecialty services in multiple parts of the state.”
