The Driver Rehabilitation Specialist 3: Include RS26026 on application. Requires the individual to be a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist (CDRS)
The Driver Rehabilitation Specialist 2: Include RS26024 on application. Requires the individual either have the Driver Rehabilitation Professional certification (DRP) OR be a Certified Teacher of Driver Education in WV (or WV eligible for the license); individuals who have applied for teacher certification may be considered; hire offer will be delayed/contingent upon receipt of certification. You can also apply for this position if you have the CDRS. This person will be required to work towards and obtain the CDRS.
The Driver Rehabilitation Specialist 1: Include RS26025 on application. This is the entry level position. It requires the individual have one of these degrees: Four year degree in: Social Work, Vocational Rehabilitation, Health and Physical Education, Counseling, Psychology, Special Education, Education, Criminal Justice/ Law Enforcement, OR an associates or higher in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Kinesiotherapy, Speech Language Pathology, Therapeutic Recreational Therapy, Nursing, Exercise Physiology, or other areas approved by ADED. This person must complete within six months either the CDI (Certified Driving Instructor) or it’s equivalent within six months of hire. DRP’s, Teachers for Driver Education, and CDRS can also apply for this position.

The West Virginia Division of Driver Rehabilitation is currently hiring for several positions. You are required in each position to work towards and/or maintain your CDRS.
RS26026 Driver Rehabilitation Specialist 3: This is the highest level in this series. The Driver Rehabilitation Specialist 3 Requires that the individual be a Certified Driver Rehabilitation Specialist. The CDRS will provide full spectrum driver assessments, behind-the-wheel training, vehicle modification evaluations, fitting, and follow up training. They will also provide transport only evaluations and recommendations. This person will provide clinical supervision to trainees and provide the agency supervisor with regular updates regarding progress of trainees/others seeking their CDRS. This person will be the backup for the bioptic/low vision driving program. The CDRS will be required to provide services across the State of WV. Additionally, this person may review for clarity recommendations and quotes regarding adaptive equipment from vendors, and will learn agency policy regarding purchase of adaptive equipment. The CDRS will serve as the central person for the agency regarding adaptive driving questions and needs, as well as other professional duties.
RS26024 The Driver Rehabilitation Specialist 2 requires the individual either have the Driver Rehabilitation Professional (DRP) certification (through ADED) OR be a Certified Teacher of Driver Education in WV (or WV eligible for the license); individuals within 60 days of teacher certification may be interviewed. Licensure is a requirement for employment. The DRP or Teacher of Driver Education will be assigned primarily to bioptic/low vision, but will also be required to provide services to individuals with mental and physical disabilities, and be required to work towards the CDRS. Individuals without a background in visual impairment may be required to take additional training. This person will ensure adherence to current laws regarding low vision/bioptic driving, and provide documentation in compliance with current WV law, and agency requires. This person completes bioptic evaluations, provides extensive behind-the-wheel training for eligible individuals and also provides bioptic night driving training. The DRP or Teacher of Driver Education will also learn all aspects of driver rehabilitation and vehicle modifications. The person will provide services across the state of WV. Additional training and/or duties may be required. The DRP or Teacher of Driver Education may also assist in training Driver Rehabilitation Specialist 1’s.
RS26025 Driver Rehabilitation Specialist 1: This entry level positions require a degree recognized by ADED, as you will be working towards CDRS. This position requires organization and flexibility. Self-direction and the ability to learn on one’s own is paramount to success in this position. After obtaining CDI or equivalent training, you will provide extensive behind the wheel training for non-complex clients, while obtaining the skills necessary to provide training for more complex clients. Quarterly improvement/additions to the type/complexity of client you can serve is expected. The ability to meet training and certification deadlines while performing your daily workload is required. You will be required to earn a DRP, then a CDRS.
All positions: All require statewide and overnight travel, as well as occasional work during the evening/night hours. We work with all age groups and disabilities, including underage individuals; therefore an extensive background check, drug testing, and driving record are obtained. Subject to ongoing drug and alcohol tests. Certification(s) will be verified.

Salary ranges reflects lowest and highest; your offered salary would be based on your certifications, experience, education, and other job-related factors.
Annual Salary Range for Driver Rehabilitation Specialist 1: $43,357 to $75,789
Annual Salary Range for Driver Rehabilitation Specialist 2: $48,098 to $84,588
Annual Salary Range for Driver Rehabilitation Specialist 3:$52,487 to $92,680
