POSITION SUMMARY: This position reports directly to the Coding Manager and indirectly to the Director of the Radiology Coding Department. The ideal candidate will possess solid physician-based coding experience, a strong understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding and demonstrated expertise in Radiology - particularly interventional procedures. Interventional Radiology coding experience is strongly preferred; however, additional training will be provided for the individual hired.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Review physician documentation and accurately assign CPT and ICD-10-CM codes, with a primary focus on Interventional Radiology procedures, ensuring compliance and optimal reimbursement
- Monitor, reconcile, and report charge activity within Imagine billing software for assigned clients
- Ensure timely and accurate coding and billing in accordance with MSN policies, CMS guidelines, LCDs, and compliance standards
- Assist in resolving coding-related denials and identifying documentation trends impacting reimbursement
- Communicate with physicians regarding documentation requirements specific to interventional and diagnostic Radiology services
- Maintain and update client-specific coding specification documents, including modality details, physician status, and practice locations
- Collaborate with MSN coding staff, offshore coding partners, and client-facing teams regarding coding updates, questions, or process improvements
- Communicate with MSN managers and clients to address missing reports, fee updates, documentation concerns, and coding clarifications
- Provide periodic reporting to clients regarding documentation issues, denial trends, and payment status
- Maintain active coding certification and complete required monthly CEU webinars
- Attend Coding Department meetings, including monthly webinars and annual meetings
- Other duties as assigned
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED required
- Completed course(s) in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology or related medical courses with excellent knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding, as well as CMS rules, LCD's and compliance as it pertains to coding, required
- Minimum of 3 years of physician-based medical coding experience required
- Radiology coding experience preferred; Interventional Radiology coding experience strongly preferred AND
- Active coding certificate from AAPC, RCCB or AHIMA, preferred. If not certified, will be required to complete certification training and obtain certification within 12 months of hire
- Active coding certification preferred (CPC, RCC, CCS or equivalent) from AAPC, RCCB or AHIMA. If not certified, must obtain acceptable certification within 12 months of hire
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
The Interventional Radiology Coding Specialist position requires constant mental alertness, attention to detail, and a high degree of accuracy in completing all assignments. This position is best suited for an individual with strong problem-solving skills and an exceptional work ethic.
- Strong working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, CMS rules, LCD's and compliance standards
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Word, Excel and Outlook
- Ability to work independently under general supervision
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Highly motivated, organized and capable of managing multiple client assignment
- Strong time-management skills with the ability to meet productivity and deadline expectations in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external contacts
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position is primarily clerical and sedentary in nature. The essential functions of the position are performed in a typical office or home office environment.
